Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 Le Grand Review

Meisterstuck 146 Le GrandThe Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 Le Grand is a fabulous fountain pen in keeping with the rest of the Meisterstuck fountain pen range. This model is made from black precious resin with platinum trim. This platinum adds shimmer and an elegant touch that comes with the black precious resin.

This is a smaller pen in dimension than some of the larger Meisterstucks, however it is a wonderful pen to write with. But what about the durability of this pen? I actually bought this pen from eBay and as it had been used for a period of time it had the usual tiny scratches on the resin. As usual though, with a little amount of polishing it was bought back to near new condition. That's the good thing with this resin, a little bit of work is all that's needed.

The Meisterstuck 146 comes with a piston filling system. Some people don't like this system, however the first pen I owned was a piston so I am more than happy with it. As for the nib, it both looks and writes fabulously. I opted for the fine nib as it is my writing preference, giving a small amount of flex which produces a smooth, wet line.

Personally I feel that Mont Blanc pens can be overpriced when bought new. It's when purchased secondhand, but in good condition, that I feel you get the best value. The good thing with these pens is that you definitely get value for money as they will last a lifetime. The superb quality nib and wonderful feel of my Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 146 Le Grand means that it will stay as my favored pen for many years to come.
